HIGHLIGHTS Ethereum Foundation appoints security researcher pcaversaccio to its board, joining Vitalik Buterin, Aya Miyaguchi, and Patrick Storchenegger. The appointment comes as Ethereum’s governance evolves, with new ecosystem initiatives such as ETH Ventures and Ethereum Institutional gaining prominence. Pascal is known for co-founding SEAL 911 and advocating privacy-first technologies. He brings deep expertise in blockchain security and protocol stewardship. The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has announced a significant change to its board. It has appointed longtime security researcher and ecosystem contributor pcaversaccio (pc) to its board,
The appointment places pc alongside Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum Foundation President Aya Miyaguchi, and Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger on the Foundations four-member board.
For now, he will serve an initial one-year voluntary term. He is somebody who brings years of experience in blockchain security, privacy, and protocol stewardship to Ethereums highest governing body.
Who Is pcaversaccio? Ethereum Foundations New Board Member
pcaversaccio, whose real name is Pascal Caversaccio, is one of Ethereums best-known security contributors. He co-founded SEAL 911, a rapid-response security initiative that coordinates support during major exploits and vulnerabilities.
As per EFs official announcement, he has already served on the Ethereum Foundations Silviculture Society, an advisory group that provides guidance on preserving Ethereums principles of censorship resistance, open-source collaboration, privacy, and security.
Beyond emergency response, pc has developed several widely used open-source security tools for Ethereum developers. As per his personal website, these include CreateX, a universal smart contract deployment framework; snekmate, a security-focused library for Vyper smart contracts; a historical database of Ethereum reentrancy attacks.
He has also developed tools for deterministic contract deployment and white-hat fund recovery. He infact curates one of GitHubs most comprehensive collections of Ethereum security resources, widely referenced by smart contract developers and auditors.

Beyond his technical work, he has been an outspoken advocate for user privacy and self-sovereignty. He authored The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto in 2024 and Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty in 2025, both of which argue for stronger privacy protections across the Ethereum ecosystem.
In recent posts on X, pc has continued to champion privacy-first technologies. He encourages users to adopt secure mobile operating systems such as GrapheneOS while arguing that individuals should retain complete control over their personal data. Shortly after his appointment was announced, he summed up his philosophy in a brief post: unconditional privacy.
Ethereum Foundation President Aya Miyaguchi also welcomed the appointment on X, saying pc brings far more than security expertise and describing him as a living example of the Foundations values in practice. She added that she looks forward to the perspective he will bring to the board.
While the appointment does not alter Ethereums technical roadmap, it underscores the Foundations commitment to strengthening governance as the network enters a new phase of institutional adoption and ecosystem expansion.
Why the Appointment Matters
The board expansion also arrives as new Ethereum-focused organizations seek to play a greater role in the ecosystem alongside the Foundation.
In recent months, initiatives such as ETH Ventures, backed by Consensus and BitMine, have been launched to accelerate investment across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Separately, Ethereum Institutional has emerged to promote enterprise adoption and institutional engagement with the network. While these initiatives do not replace the Ethereum Foundation, they reflect a broader shift. That is how influence over Ethereums future is becoming increasingly distributed across multiple organizations rather than centered on a single entity.
Against that backdrop, the Foundation appears to be reinforcing its traditional role as Ethereums long-term steward. This is focused on protocol security, decentralization, and the values that have defined the network since its inception.
