SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) stock price edges lower after reaching a multi-month high of $176. The drop mirrors the downturn across US stocks after minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting revealed that the Fed is leaning hawkish.
However, interest in SpaceX stock remains high amid reports that the company is looking to raise $40 billion to expand its presence in the AI industry.
SpaceX Plans $40B Raise for Nvidia Chips
According to the Financial Times, SpaceX is holding talks to raise $10 billion in loans from banks and an additional $30 billion in investment-grade debt.
These funds will go towards purchasing more Nvidia (NVDA) chips to expand SpaceX’s AI business.
Per the report, the financing deal could close in 2027, with Apollo Global Management and Pacific Investment Management being among the firms participating in the raise.
SpaceX’s $40 billion financing plan comes after Morgan Stanley reiterated a $300 target for SpaceX stock price amid the hype surrounding superintelligence.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also recently rebranded the company from an artificial intelligence (AI) firm to a Super Intelligence company after President Trump’s executive order. Musk also said that he will change the name of the company’s AI division from XAI to SpaceXSI.
Investors Brace For 328M Share Unlock
SpaceX will have its fifth share unlock on October 9. On this date, 328.4 million shares, valued at $54.8 billion, will become eligible for sale for the first time.
One analyst on X notes that SpaceX stock could record a surge in selling pressure as the unlock nears if history repeats.
“So far, it has been a sell-off the day or two before the insider unlock, and then flat to green the day of the actual unlock,” the analyst said.
After tomorrow’s unlock, SpaceX still has three more releases scheduled to occur before the end of the year.
SpaceX Stock Prediction as Rally Cools Off
SpaceX stock price recently soared to a four-month high of $176. The surge coincided with a rise in buying pressure that pushed the RSI into an overbought region above 70.
The RSI has since retreated from the overbought level and stood at 65 at the time of writing, suggesting that despite the slight drop in share price, the momentum remains bullish.
If SpaceX stock resumes an uptrend, it will have to close above the resistance at $172 to kickstart the next bullish leg towards the psychological level of $180.
However, sustained selling pressure could push SpaceX stock down to support at the middle Bollinger band of $155. Losing this support could extend the downtrend towards $149.
