The latest acquisition follows last week’s purchase of 950 BTC, acquired between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20 for approximately $75.7 million at an average price of $79,670, including fees.
According to Strategy’s Sept. 28 Form 8-K, the company sold 1,469,165 shares of MSTR common stock, generating $246.2 million in net proceeds. Of that amount, $142.7 million financed its bitcoin purchases, while $103.5 million went toward repurchasing STRC, its variable-rate preferred stock.
Strategy further noted that it also repurchased 1,534,530 STRC shares for $151.7 million, supplementing the stock-sale proceeds with $48.1 million in existing cash. Another $723.5 million remains available under its preferred securities repurchase program.
Saylor shared the latest figures on X, writing:
“Strategy has acquired 1,665 BTC and repurchased $152M of STRC. As of 9/27/26, we hold 847,666 BTC and $6.02B of USD Assets. USD Duration is 3.8 yrs. STRC’s BTC Credit tightened to 49 bps (-1 bp), assuming 10% BTC ARR, 40% BTC Vol, and a BTC price of $84,006.”
The SEC filing breaks those dollar assets into a $5.02 billion reserve for preferred dividends and debt interest, plus $1 billion in cash available for broader treasury purposes. Strategy also spent $22.1 million from its reserve on preferred dividends during the week.
After a brief pause in buying BTC, the company continues accumulating bitcoin while simultaneously committing capital to buying back the securities used to support its treasury operation. Strategy’s purchase comes as bitcoin’s price is trading lower and at press time, following the buy announcement, BTC trades for $83,111 per unit.
